Display Design
The HP 3115 Mini Laptop is packed with 11.6-inch diagonal HD5 anti-glare WLED rendering a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The screen is a Non-Touch and comes with Free DOS. Antiglare is made of a matte coating on the display to reduce reflections and glare on the display. This base version includes the same hardware you'd find on competing Netbooks from Dell, Acer, or Asus (so it's largely a matter of personal aesthetic preference), and this laptop configuration includes the HD video accelerator and a higher-definition 1,366x768-pixel display, making it a good deal.
Ports and Connectivity
HDMI 1.4 port supports direct connection to high-definition displays with up to 1920 x 1080 resolution and 7-channel audio with one convenient cable (not included). This Mini laptop does not contain any internal Optical drive but you can purchase a USB external optical drive Mobile USB DVDRW from Saruk Digital Solutions. The VGA port supports a max external resolution of 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz.
Keyboard and Touchpad
With its excellent keyboard and touchpad, the HP 3115 Mini Laptop is one of the nicer-looking overall Netbook packages available. The island-style (some say "chicklet") keyboard has been adopted from the more business-like PC models and provides for large, flat keys that are widely spaced for easy typing. The keyboard has good-size Shift, Tab, and other important keys, which is crucial for a small Notebook. HP also wisely continues its trend of making the Function keys actually functional; the typical alternate tasks (such as volume and brightness controls) have become the F1-F12 keys' primary function, and the old F-key uses require you to hold down the Fn key (in other words, a role reversal for the Function keys).
Audio and Multimedia
Audio is supported by DTS Sound and Integrated dual speakers. A Combo headphone/mic jack enables you to use your headphones or use an amplifier to have a more immersive sound. The Webcam is an Integrated HD Webcam that supports videoconferencing and still image capture for Improved quality for video streaming and still image capture (1280x720 resolution).
